The OneBAT project was represented at the 10th Pseudotyped Virus Network Meeting, held at the University of Westminster in London on 10 June 2026, where Dr Simon Scott delivered an oral presentation entitled “Use of Pseudotypes in the OneBAT Project”.
The event brought together approximately 60 participants from academia, industry, regulatory bodies and public health organisations, providing a valuable forum for discussing the latest advances in pseudotyped virus technologies and their applications in biomedical research.
Attendees included representatives from leading academic institutions such as the Universities of Kent, Sussex, Nottingham, Essex, Sheffield, Oxford, Warwick, Queen Mary University of London, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, University College London and the University of Westminster. The meeting also welcomed experts from biotechnology companies and public organisations, including AbBaltis, RQbio, iosBIO, visMederi, Virion X, TWIST Bioscience, DIOSynVax, the MHRA, APHA, the Francis Crick Institute, OneVirology, DSTL, the Pirbright Institute, the Oxford Vaccine Group and VPU.
The programme featured 19 oral presentations showcasing the production and application of pseudotyped viruses in clinical and scientific research, with a particular focus on pandemic preparedness and emerging infectious diseases.
During his presentation, Dr Scott highlighted how pseudotype technologies are being applied within the OneBAT project to support research on bat-borne viruses and strengthen preparedness against future viral threats. The presentation also provided an opportunity to share the project’s ongoing activities with a multidisciplinary audience and to foster exchanges with researchers and stakeholders working on complementary approaches to infectious disease surveillance and response.
