From September 2nd to 6th, 2024, Tarragona, Spain, hosted the European Bat Research Symposium (EBRS), a triennial event that gathers leading scientists, conservationists, and enthusiasts dedicated to the study and protection of bats. This year’s symposium covered a wide range of topics, including bat ecology, behaviour, genetics, and conservation strategies, offering a platform for the exchange of knowledge and collaboration between experts from around the world.

Francesca Festa from IZSVe (Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie) proudly represented the OneBAT project by contributing her research to this prestigious event. The symposium also provided an excellent opportunity to connect with other experts, including Fiona Mathews from the University of Sussex, who led a highly informative workshop on the implementation of the Motus network—a crucial milestone in the OneBAT project’s efforts to track bat movements and improve conservation strategies.

The symposium’s dynamic program, which included presentations, workshops, and field trips, underscored the importance of collaborative research and innovative solutions in the conservation of bats across Europe.
