Introduction

The variety of activities encompassed by the OneBAT project needs to be ethically managed and scientifically supported to guarantee integrity and excellent scientific and ethical standards.

To ensure the balance between performance, impact on bat populations and experimental animals, and biosafety risks, OneBAT is guided by a Scientific Advisory Board and an Ethics Board responsible for overseeing this process and suggesting corrective measures if necessary.

Scientific Advisory Board (SAB)

The aim of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) is to cover expertise in bat ecology, virology, and animal and public health. The SAB supports and advises the Steering Board in formulating intermediate goals towards milestones and deliverable achievements. It provides independent advice on the scientific performance and quality of the results obtained. The SAB meets every six months during the OneBAT periodic General Assemblies and exceptionally during monthly Steering Committee meetings if specific needs arise.
